Hope and Straps: TRX Gives Back

At TRX, we believe that when you workout, you give yourself the gift of fitness, wellness, health and performance. You forge a better you, both for yourself and for the people around you. But it’s just as important to give back to those in need. Throughout the year at TRX, we give funds, workout equipment, training programs and training education to those in need to help make a difference in the world.

TRX inventor and CEO Randy Hetrick recently returned from a whirlwind trip to help support the Todd Durkin Impact Foundation benefitting Hurricane Sandy survivors. In the course of a single week, Randy led fundraiser workouts at Crunch Fitness Chelsea and 24 Hour Fitness Midtown in New York, and at the TRX Training Center in San Francisco with all proceeds going to benefit the Impact Foundation.

Dan McDonogh, TRX Group Training and Development Manager, lent his expertise to help raise funds for the Impact Foundation, too. Dan traveled to Southern California with the TRX on Tour Van to lead workouts at Brik Fitness and at Todd Durkin’s Fitness Quest 10 facility in San Diego.

In the spirit of the Holidays, we’d like to share some of the other ways TRX gave back in 2012:

San Francisco Fleet Week CEO Challenge: Randy went head-to-head with 24-Hour Fitness CEO Carl Liebert in a TRX 40/40 Challenge to raise funds for the Semper Fi Fund. Needless to say, Hetrick crushed it with a score of 42/46, and at $50 a rep, both CEOs sweat their way to a donation of $6,600 to the Fund, which provides support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Also crushing the challenge was Major Christopher J. Bronzi is the Marine, 1/4 BLT CO and Captain Bill Byrne is the Naval Officer, 3rd Fleet chief of staff.

Breast Cancer Awareness: TRX challenged our local community to help raise funds to support the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer San Francisco Walk. A sizable crew from TRX HQ donned limited-edition TRX pink ribbon t-shirts and completed the five-mile walk. Then, fulfilling our promise, TRX matched the funds our community raised and donated them to the cause.

Movember: For the month of November, 20 TRX employees, including Randy, put down their razors for 30 full days. This elite crew made their mustaches their machines and raised funds in support of men’s cancer initiatives. Ultimately, TRX ranked 126th out of all companies in America that participated in Movember.

TRX Fund: A continuous TRX effort since 2008, the TRX Fund makes a real, measurable difference in the lives our nation’s military forces and since its inception, has raised more than $60,000. Five dollars of every online sale of the TRX FORCE Kit goes into an account that funds a coordinated effort to provide training equipment, education and workouts to wounded warriors and other disabled athletes. The fund made the donation from the CEO Challenge possible and in 2012, the Fund allowed TRX to donate hundreds of TRX FORCE Kits and dozens of training sessions to wounded warriors.
